Water-filled or air-filled rubber dams, river water storage, farmland irrigation

Air inflatable rubber dam, a long tubular-shaped fabric, is a novel hydraulic building presented by the development of macromolecular synthetic material industry. It consists of high strength canvas as the reinforced framework and synthetic rubber, is fixed to a reinforced concrete foundation using clamping plates and anchor bolts. In dry seasons, the rubber dam is inflated by air to retain water for industrial, agricultural and living water demands; in rainy seasons, the air in the sealed bag can be deflated out to release floodwater from river course. Its cost is lower than water inflatable rubber dam and traditional dam. It can be installed in 3 to 15 days and be put into use soon. Medium will not freeze in winter. It is usually used for retain water, irrigation, control flood, power generation, etc.                                                                                                         Applications Rubber dams are mainly suitable for low-head and large-span dam projects, such as being used as gates or active overflow weirs on reservoir spillways to increase reservoir capacity and power generation head; being used as low-head and large-span rolling dams or overflow weirs on rivers, which do not require the hoist and gate machine and working bridge of conventional gates; being used as water intake gates, water diversion gates and regulating gates on canal systems, which can conveniently store water and adjust water levels and flows; being used as wave breakwaters or tide gates along the coast, which are better than metal gates because they are not affected by seawater erosion and marine organisms; being used for upstream and downstream gates of orifice ship locks with larger spans; being used for construction of cofferdams or active cofferdams, the height of rubber active cofferdams can be raised or lowered, and overflow can be generated from the top of the weir, which does not require soil to build weirs, can keep the river clean, save labor and shorten construction period; being used for urban garden projects, using colored dam bags with beautiful shapes and smooth lines, which can add a beautiful landscape to urban construction.
